It’s been a surreal couple of weeks with the Artemis II mission, after so many years since the Apollo days. It brought back memories like they were yesterday, yet so much has changed.
To hear more about my reflections on the two different space eras, especially about astronaut families, have a listen to my interview on the Science Friday podcast.
You’ll hear some emerging themes from my research project on astronaut families of the Apollo era, particularly our Astronaut Group 3 cohort. As much as astronauts (and families) have in common, we/they also have very different experiences rooted in time and place, influenced by our particular social groups and larger societies and cultures. We’re all products of our social contexts.

Thank you to the Science Friday crew, especially Rasha Aridi (producer) and Flora Lichtman (host) for the wonderful conversation, and to Jason Isaac and colleagues at WNYC for the superlative sound!
